Bishopbriggs Removals

Semis on Kirkintilloch Road, bungalows in Kenmure and the new streets at Cadder, moved with an eye on the A803 and the M80.

Semi-detached houses along Kirkintilloch Road in Bishopbriggs

Bishopbriggs sits on the northern edge of Glasgow, with Kirkintilloch Road running through the middle from Springburn to the Cross and out towards Kirkintilloch. Either side of it you find 1930s semi-detached houses with driveways, bungalows in Kenmure and Woodhill, 1960s and 70s estates towards Balmuildy Road, and the newer developments around Cadder near the Forth and Clyde Canal. Removals in Bishopbriggs are nearly always house moves with a driveway and a garden, which suits us.

Access is mostly good but the A803 is not. Kirkintilloch Road carries the town's traffic plus everything heading in from Kirkintilloch and Lenzie, and Bishopbriggs Cross and the junction at Springfield Road back up morning and evening. We plan the drive to avoid that. From the Cross you are twenty minutes from the city centre via Springburn Road, and the M80 at Robroyston is close for East Kilbride, Lanarkshire or the north.

If you are looking for movers in Bishopbriggs who will handle a three-bed semi, a bungalow or a new-build with the same care, and tell you honestly whether it is a one-van or two-van day, ring Peter with the address and he will put a price on it.

Moving in Bishopbriggs: what we know

Kirkintilloch Road semis

The long run of 1930s semi-detached houses along Kirkintilloch Road and the streets off it, such as Springfield Road and Crowhill Road, have driveways with a shared boundary and a side path to the back garden. Most drives take a Luton, though the ones that slope down to the garage can be awkward when the van is loaded. We check the approach and, if needed, park on the road, which is unrestricted on nearly all of them.

Cadder and the new builds

The newer estates at Cadder and around Balmuildy Road have modern detached and semi-detached homes on cul-de-sacs with tight turning heads and, in some cases, residents' parking courts. Internal doors are narrower than in the older stock and the stairs turn tightly, so wardrobes and king-size beds come apart before they go up. We bring the tools and put everything back together at the other end.

Kenmure and Woodhill bungalows

The bungalows around Kenmure and Woodhill are popular with downsizers, and a lot of our Bishopbriggs work is moving people into them from bigger houses in Bearsden or the West End. Many have been extended into the roof, so there is often a bedroom up a loft stair. Front gardens tend to be short, which keeps the carry to the van quick.

Getting around the A803

Kirkintilloch Road is the only real spine through Bishopbriggs and it queues at the Cross, at Springfield Road and past the station in the peaks. We avoid those windows for the driving part of your move. For the Southside or East Kilbride we head for the M80 at Robroyston and the M8, and for the West End or Bearsden we use Balmuildy Road and Boclair Road across to Canniesburn Toll.

FAQ

Moving in Bishopbriggs: your questions

Can you park outside my house on Kirkintilloch Road?
On the driveway is best, and most of the semis have one. If the drive is too short or slopes down to the garage, we park on the road. Kirkintilloch Road itself is busy, so we position the van with cones and keep the loading quick. Parking is unrestricted on the side streets, and no council suspension is normally needed.
How long is the drive from Bishopbriggs to the city centre on a move?
Outside the peaks, about twenty minutes down Springburn Road to the city centre and a little more to the West End via Balmuildy Road and Canniesburn Toll. In the rush hour it can double, so we load first and drive between roughly 9.30 and 3.30 where the day allows.
Do you move people from Bishopbriggs to the new builds at Cadder?
Yes, and to the other new developments around the town. The cul-de-sacs there can be tight for a Luton to turn in, so we look at the layout beforehand and sometimes park at the entrance and trolley in. Beds and wardrobes usually need dismantling for the narrower stairs, which we do as standard.
Is a bungalow move in Bishopbriggs cheaper than a house move?
Often, because there are fewer stairs and the carry to the van is short. A two-bed bungalow in Kenmure starts from £300. If the bungalow has a dormer bedroom or a full loft, tell us, because that changes how many people we send and how long it takes.
Do you offer a man and van service in Bishopbriggs for smaller jobs?
We do. A single room, a flat above the shops at the Cross, a few pieces of furniture to a family member in Bearsden, or a student going into halls in the city, are all man and van jobs. Tell Peter what you have and he will give you a fixed price for it.
