Removals in Kirkintilloch
Flat and house moves across Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and Waterside, from Cowgate tenements to Victorian villas on Garngaber Avenue.

Kirkintilloch grew up around the Forth and Clyde Canal, and the canal still shapes the town. The Cowgate runs down to the canal bridge at Townhead, with tenements and shop flats along it, and the newer flats at Southbank Marina sit right on the water. To the south, Lenzie is a Victorian commuter suburb with big villas on Kirkintilloch Road, Garngaber Avenue and Beech Road, and around both are the post-war and modern estates of Harestanes, Westermains, Hillhead, Woodhead and Waterside.
Removals in Kirkintilloch depend on which of these you are in. Cowgate flats mean a close, a tight stair and a van on a shared-surface street that was narrowed to calm traffic. Lenzie villas mean big rooms, long carries down a drive and often a house that has been in the family for decades. The estates are straightforward apart from the odd cul-de-sac.
As movers in Kirkintilloch we come out on the A803 through Bishopbriggs, or the M80 to Junction 4 for Lenzie and Waterside, in around 25 minutes from the centre of Glasgow. Phone Peter with the address and he will price the job from there.
Moving in Kirkintilloch: what we know
The Cowgate, Townhead and the canal
The Cowgate is Kirkintilloch's main street, remodelled with a shared surface and few kerbs, which leaves very little room to stop a Luton without blocking the road. The tenements and shop flats along it and on Townhead have closes to the rear, and the lanes behind are narrow. We plan to sit on Union Street, Alexandra Street or the car park by the canal and carry. The flats at Southbank Marina have an underground car park with a height limit, so the van stays on the road above.
Lenzie villas and the station
Lenzie was built for Glasgow commuters and the villas around the station on Kirkintilloch Road, Garngaber Avenue, Beech Road, Victoria Road and Heath Avenue are large, with attic bedrooms, cellars, servants' stairs and gravel drives under mature trees. Moves here take a full crew and a full day, and we pack the van so the heavy sandstone-era furniture travels safely. Parking is easy on the drive but the station streets are busy with commuters in the morning, so we avoid the 8am rush.
Harestanes, Hillhead, Westermains and Waterside
The estates around the town are a mix: Harestanes and Hillhead have council-built terraces and four-in-a-blocks from the 1950s and 60s with front paths and parking courts, Westermains and Woodhead have 1970s and 80s private semis and detached houses with drives, and Waterside has both an old mining village core and recent new builds along the canal. In Harestanes some upper flats are reached by an outside stair, and in Waterside the older cottages on Main Street front directly onto a narrow road.
The A803 and the M80
From Glasgow the A803 Kirkintilloch Road runs through Bishopbriggs and Torrance to Kirkintilloch Cross, roughly 25 minutes outside peak. It is a single carriageway and slow around the school run. The M80 to Junction 4 at Mollinsburn and then the B8048 through Lenzie is quicker for the south side of the town. Lenzie station has fast trains to Queen Street, and Kirkintilloch's bus links are good, so a lot of our jobs here are Glasgow workers moving out for the schools and the space.
