Removals on the Southside of Glasgow
One crew for the whole Southside, from Govanhill tenements to Newlands villas and Kings Park bungalows.

The Southside covers a lot of ground: Govanhill and Strathbungo just over the river, Shawlands and Langside around Queen's Park, Cathcart and Kings Park along the railway, and Newlands, Merrylee and Muirend heading out towards the Clarkston boundary. Each pocket has its own housing and its own parking problems, and we have worked in all of them.
Removals in Southside Glasgow tend to fall into three types for us. Tenement moves in Govanhill, Crosshill and Strathbungo, where the stairs and the parking matter more than the mileage. Family house moves in Newlands, Cathcart and Netherlee, where the driveways are fine but the houses are full. And bungalow moves in Kings Park and Merrylee, which are often downsizes with a lot of sorting to do first.
As a Southside removal company we spend most days on Victoria Road, Pollokshaws Road, Clarkston Road and the streets between them. Phone Peter with the address and he will know the street, the parking and roughly what the close is like before you have finished describing it.
Moving in Southside: what we know
Govanhill, Strathbungo and Crosshill tenements
The streets either side of Victoria Road, from Allison Street and Calder Street across to Annette Street and Dixon Avenue, are dense four-storey tenement. Closes are long and stairs are steep, and parking on the grid is tight at any time of day. Strathbungo's Moray Place and the Alexander Thomson terraces on Regent Park Square are listed, so we take extra care with stair rails and doorways. Queen's Park's north gate on Victoria Road is a useful landmark for meeting the van.
Cathcart, Newlands and Merrylee
South of Langside the housing changes to red sandstone semis, big villas on Newlands Road and Monreith Road, and 1930s bungalows around Merrylee Road and Kings Park Avenue. Driveways make the van easy to place, but the houses hold a lot: garages, loft rooms and garden sheds are all part of the count. Clarkston Road is a bus corridor with a bus lane on the run into Muirend, so we plan for that when timing a move on the main road.
Queen's Park and the Cathcart Circle
The Cathcart Circle railway loops through Queen's Park, Crosshill, Mount Florida, Cathcart, Langside and Pollokshields West, and its embankments and bridges shape the road network. Several streets dead end at the line, so a route that looks short on the map may need the long way round. We know which bridges are height-restricted, including the low one at Langside station, and route the van accordingly.
Crossing the river
Most Southside moves start with the Kingston Bridge onto the M77 or M74, or Victoria Road over the Glasgow Bridge for Govanhill and Crosshill. For moves to the West End we choose between the Clyde Tunnel and the Kingston Bridge depending on traffic reports on the morning. Heading out of Glasgow, the M77 for Ayrshire, the M74 for Lanarkshire and the M8 for Edinburgh are all within ten minutes of Shawlands Cross.
