Clarkston Removals

Family house moves around Clarkston Toll, Busby Road and Williamwood, with the crew sized to the house.

Semi-detached houses on a tree-lined street near Clarkston Toll, Clarkston

Clarkston is a suburb of family homes gathered around Clarkston Toll, where Busby Road meets Clarkston Road and Eaglesham Road. The streets running off them, Carolside Avenue, Overlee Road, Stamperland Gardens and the leafy roads of Williamwood, are mostly 1930s semis and bungalows, with larger detached houses near Williamwood golf course and newer estates towards Busby and Sheddens.

Removals in Clarkston come with a couple of local quirks. Busby Road through the Toll is one of the slowest stretches in East Renfrewshire during the school run and the evening rush, so we time arrivals to avoid it. Many Williamwood houses sit on sloping plots with steps down to the front door or a drive that drops away, which changes how we load. And Clarkston station and the railway divide the area, so a house on Stamperland and a house on Williamwood can be five minutes apart on foot and fifteen by van.

As a Clarkston removal company we reach the Toll in around 25 minutes from the city centre via the M77 or Clarkston Road. Phone Peter with the address and he will price the move properly, garage and loft included.

Moving in Clarkston: what we know

Busby Road and Clarkston Toll

The Toll is the junction everything in Clarkston funnels through, with Busby Road (the A727), Clarkston Road and Eaglesham Road meeting at a set of lights. It backs up badly around 8.30am and from 4pm, and there are bus stops and yellow lines on all four approaches. We aim to have the van at your door before the morning peak. Houses fronting Busby Road usually have a driveway, which we use rather than the road itself.

Williamwood and the golf course side

Williamwood, between Clarkston Toll and Netherlee, has some of the biggest houses in the area on roads like Vardar Avenue, Seres Road and the streets around Williamwood golf course. Plots are often sloped, with steps up or down to the door and driveways that fall away from the road, so we check where a loaded van can safely stand before reversing in. Lofts, double garages and summer houses are all common and all count towards the volume.

Stamperland, Overlee and Sheddens

Stamperland and Overlee are tidy grids of 1930s semis and bungalows with driveways and wide streets, and moves here are among the most straightforward we do. Sheddens, on the Busby side, has newer estates with tighter turning circles and shared driveways where neighbour co-operation matters. Clarkston station sits at the foot of Stamperland Gardens and is a useful meeting point for the crew if you are following in a car.

Routes to and from Clarkston

From the city centre we either take the M77 to Junction 3 and come along Nitshill Road and Eastwoodmains Road, or drive straight down Clarkston Road through Cathcart and Muirend, which is slower but avoids the motorway. Either way it is around 25 minutes. Moves to East Kilbride go up Eaglesham Road and the A726, and Newton Mearns is a ten-minute run along Mearns Road.

FAQ

Moving in Clarkston: your questions

What time should we start a Clarkston move?
Early. We like to be at the door by 8am so the van is loading before Busby Road and the Toll seize up for the school run. Afternoon starts are possible for smaller moves but we route around the Toll after 4pm.
Our Williamwood house has steps down to the front door. Is that a problem?
It is normal for Williamwood and we plan for it. We use ramps where possible, bring extra crew for the heavy items and protect the steps and door frames. Tell Peter about the slope when booking so the van and crew are right for the house.
How much for a three-bed semi in Stamperland?
From £500 with a van and crew. The final figure depends on the loft, garage and any garden furniture, which is why Peter asks about them up front. Two-bed flats near the Toll start from £300.
Do you cover Busby, Eaglesham and Waterfoot as well?
Yes, all of G76 including Busby, Eaglesham, Waterfoot and Carmunnock. Eaglesham's older village streets are narrow, so we sometimes use a smaller van there. Peter will confirm which van suits your address.
Can you help with packing for a Clarkston family move?
Yes. We offer full or partial packing, boxes and materials. For a family house with a full loft, a packing day before the move keeps moving day itself manageable and is worth asking Peter to price.
