Removals with Storage in Glasgow

We collect, we store, we bring it back when you are ready, and you only deal with one company and one price.

Wrapped furniture and labelled boxes stacked neatly in a secure Glasgow storage unit

Not every move goes straight from one door to the next. Tenancies end a fortnight before the new one starts, a chain breaks the week before settlement, a kitchen refit means the ground floor has to be empty, or a student needs somewhere for a room's worth of belongings over the summer. Clyde Movers handles the whole thing: we collect from your Glasgow home, store everything in a secure facility in the city, and redeliver to the new address when you say the word.

Because the same crew does the collection, the storing and the redelivery, nothing gets lost between companies and nobody argues about who scratched the table. Peter gives you one written price that covers the collection, the weekly storage and the redelivery, so you know the full cost before anything leaves the house.

We pack and inventory everything on the way in, keep the list with your paperwork, and give you access by appointment if you need a box out halfway through. Goods in storage can be insured for the duration, and Peter will explain the options when he quotes.

What’s included

  • Collection from your Glasgow home by our own crew and van
  • Secure, dry storage facility in Glasgow with controlled access
  • Everything wrapped, labelled and listed on an inventory before it goes in
  • Weekly billing with a two-week minimum, so short gaps do not cost a month
  • Access to your items by appointment if you need something out
  • Redelivery to the new address anywhere in Glasgow or beyond, priced as a normal move
  • Insurance for goods in storage available, ask Peter for details

How the pricing works

Storage is charged by the week based on the space your things take up. As a guide, a few items such as a bed, a wardrobe and some boxes start from about £25 a week, the contents of a one-bed flat from about £40 a week, and a two or three bed home from about £60 a week. The collection and the redelivery are each priced like a normal removal, so from £200 for a one-bed, £300 for a two-bed and £500 for a three-bed within Glasgow. Peter puts the full figure in writing before you book.

There is a two-week minimum, then billing is weekly, and you are never charged for a week you have not used. If the redelivery goes outside Glasgow, to Edinburgh or Aberdeen for example, it is priced on our long-distance rates.

What happens to your things while they are stored

Everything goes in wrapped and labelled, stacked in your own space with heavy items at the bottom, mattresses on edge in covers and sofas on their feet under blankets. The facility is dry, secure and accessed only by our crew and by customers on appointment. We do not store food, plants, gas bottles, paint or anything that leaks, and we tell you at the quote stage what needs to stay with you.

The inventory is the key document. Every box has a number, the list says what room it came from, and you get a copy. When we redeliver we tick the list off with you at the door, which is how you know that the box marked kitchen glasses is the one that turns up in the kitchen.

Timing a move with storage in the middle

The trick is to treat it as two moves with a gap, and plan both. Collection is usually on the last day of your old tenancy or the day before settlement, and it runs like a normal move with an early start and the same wrapping. Leave a bag of essentials with you rather than in the van: kettle, bedding, chargers, documents. Redelivery is booked once you have a firm date for the keys, and we can usually fit it in with a few days' notice, though Fridays and month-ends go first. If the gap turns out to be a single night, ask about holding the loaded van overnight instead, which is sometimes simpler and cheaper than unloading into storage.

How it works

How we handle storage in Glasgow

  1. Quote for the whole cycle

Send Peter a video walk-through. He works out how much space you need, how long you think it will be, and where the redelivery is likely to go. You get one written price covering collection, the weekly rate and the redelivery, with the redelivery date left open.

  2. Collect and inventory

The crew wraps furniture, packs anything you have not packed yourself, and lists every item and box on an inventory that you sign. Mattresses go in covers, sofas in blankets, and the whole load is stacked in your own space in the facility rather than mixed with anyone else's.

  3. Store for as long as you need

Billing is weekly after the two-week minimum, so a three-week gap costs three weeks, not a month. If you need a box out, ring Peter and we arrange a time. If the new place is delayed, storage simply rolls on and you are told before each week is charged.

  4. Redeliver when you are ready

Give us the date and the new address and the same crew brings everything back, unwraps it, rebuilds beds and puts items in the rooms you name. We check the inventory off with you at the door so you know nothing is missing.

FAQ

Storage questions

Is there a minimum storage period?
Two weeks. After that you are billed weekly and only for the weeks you use. Most gaps between tenancies fall in the two to six week range and that is what the pricing is set up for, though people have stored with us for many months while a renovation ran long.
Can I get something out of storage before redelivery?
Yes, by appointment. Ring Peter, tell him which box or item from the inventory you need, and we arrange a time at the facility. Because everything is labelled and listed it is usually a quick job rather than a search through a pile.
Is my furniture insured while it is in storage?
Cover for goods in storage is available and priced on the value you declare. Peter will explain the level and any excess when he quotes. The facility itself is dry and secure, and only our crew and customers with an appointment have access.
Do I have to pack everything before collection?
You can pack yourself with boxes we drop off beforehand, or book our packers and let the crew do it on the day. Either way we wrap the furniture, cover the mattresses and put every box on the inventory before it leaves the house.
Can you redeliver to a different city?
Yes. Plenty of people store with us in Glasgow and then redeliver to Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Manchester or London when a job comes through. The redelivery is then priced on our long-distance rates and Peter confirms it in writing before the van leaves.
What can I not put into storage?
Food, plants, gas bottles, paint, fuel, batteries that could leak and anything perishable. Fridge freezers must be defrosted and dried. If in doubt ask when you book and Peter will tell you straight.
